Tyler Noble (one of the USATF sports science workers) and I ran to Regent's Park. It's one of the better places to run, but it takes a long time to take the underground to it. Running there is tricky with directions, people in the way, and a lot of waiting at lights. I wanted to do this run though so we could stop by Sherlock's flat for a photo. It doesn't look exactly like the one on the TV show. It's been turned into a museum.
I've noticed that when I'm running around here, the pigeons are not very scared of people. They often fly right by my face towards me. I think they are trying to get back at me for all the pigeon chasing I did when I was 7 years old! I wanted to chase some in Green Park, but thought it would be looked down upon for doing that now that I'm 46. I'm pretty sure I could finally catch one now, but I'm not allowed to. Plus, I don't really know what I would do with it if I did catch it.
To give you an idea of how excited the crowd gets, here is a video of Katarina Johnson-Thompson clearing the high jump. It's not the same in a video, but if you have the sound on, you'll get an idea of how loud things get.

| These are on the doors of everyone that gets a medal when they arrive at the hotel. |
The evening session was incredible for US steeplechasers. Emma and Courtney were in the final. Emma won bronze at the Olympics last year, so we thought she could get a medal. The leader at the first water jump missed turning in for the jump and just kept running along the track. She realized and ran back then around to the water jump. She ended up 4th.
Emma and Courtney just stayed right behind the top 4 or 5 for lap after lap running a really fast pace. On the last lap, they were right up front with a Kenyan runner and Ruth Jibet that won the Olympics last year by a long way. Courtney took the lead just before the final water jump, then Emma moved ahead of Courtney. There was a tight pack of 4 as they left the water jump, but Emma followed by Courtney led over the final barrier and pressed on through the finish. Emma won in 9:02 (she broke her American record by 5 seconds). Courtney was 2nd in 9:03 (16 seconds faster than her previous best). It was one of the most excited crowds we've had here. Behind Mo Farah winning the 10k.

| It's fun to see the old ice cream trucks. A Flake 99 cone was $3 at the stadium though, so I'm going to head to the food court tomorrow at the mall near the stadium in between events. |
